      🙂 thanks Akram.

The Orion Nebula is 1,344 light years away, which means it takes 1,344 years for light to travel from there to here.

If we were to invent a space ship that traveled at half the speed of light (very ambitious speed … about 1500 kilometres per second!!) it would take us 2,688 years to get there. So if a future super-healthy human could live for 200 years, it would take over 10 generations of people before we got there!!

So… if your great great great great great great great great great great grandparents set off from earth and you were born on the space ship in the last 200 years of the journey, you might get to see it 🙂

It really isn’t practical to ever consider sending humans there. Jack has given you the figures – and the Orion Nebula isn’t all that far away in space terms!!!!!!
