• Question: Do you think we will achieve immortality?

      No!!

      I don’t believe we can keep going forever – and with 7 billion people on the plant, would we ever retire if we lived for ever. How would everyone have enough to eat? Make the best of your life, stay healthy and accept the natural order of things I say…….does this sound boring?

      Doesn’t need to be….. live each day to make it count and you will have a fantastic life 🙂

      Of course we are living longer …… we understand health and have more cures for diseases than ever before – my Granny is 98 this year and the picture of health 🙂

      No – the body can’t keep going on and on. We are living longer due to having healthier life styles and better medication than times gone by but the body’s cells can only keep reproducing for so long before something goes wrong.

      I am reminded of the famous comic actor Woody Allen’s comment “I do not want to achieve immortality through my works. I want to achieve immortality by never dying”.

      I am not sure if this will disappoint you but No … since our body is designed (somehow like a complex machine) to function at varying levels throughout our life so at one point it wouldn’t be able to function and unfortunately we are not machines so you cannot polish us and update us with the latest firmware 😉

      However, on advantage of developed healthcare and increased awareness of healthy living making us live longer horrayyyyy but not immortal … 😉

      I feel like I have to give a different answer now 😉

      I don’t think this will ever be possible in our lifetime … but maybe in the distant future people will put their consciousness inside a computer that can be maintained indefinitely… Haha! 🙂 I’m not saying this will happen – but it certainly isn’t impossible. One thing that would stop you from being truly immortal is the end of the universe … described here by Brian Cox
