The simple answer is … we don’t know!

We are looking all the time – trying to pick up radio signals from aliens on the other side of the galaxy. We also try to find distant planets that look like planet earth. We think that, if aliens do exist, they would probably live somewhere similar to earth because they probably need water to grow.

Eventually we might find some.. 🙂

I have answered several question like this.

I find it totally unbelievable that, out of the countless galaxies out there, each containing billions of planets, we are the only form of life. However, the chances that two life forms will ever encounter each other is unbelievably small due to the huge distances that lie be between us. Even if we do manage to detect evidence of life, the incredible distances that are involved are such that, even travelling at the speed of light, by the time we intercepted those messages, that life form and civilisation would have long since disappeared.

So we may not be the only life form ever – but we are very, very alone nevertheless.

Indeed we don’t know. What I do know is that life forms need the right light, temperature, gases, food (energy) to exist and to flourish. Earth is just perfect for this and so there are now 7 billion of us on this planet ……. maybe out there…..there are conditions which are right for other creatures??? I’m with Laurence though – the chances of us meeting are slim 🙂
