      I like this question – imaginative 🙂
I LOVE the Narnia books – I think it would have to be the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The water is so clear, the animal species so colourful and vibrant, and the sense of advanture is amazing 🙂
It captures my favourite things – I’m an adranline seaker that loves new things and new places…. 😀

Great question! I really love this book called ‘Sophie’s world’ by Jostein Gaarder … it really fits with your question! I won’t say too much and give the story away in case you want to read it – if you haven’t already you should try it, I think you’d like it! 🙂

For me it woul dhave to be “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkein. I first read it when I was 11 years old – it took me a full week during the Christmas holidays. Tolkein wrote the book in the 1930’s. It wasn’t meant to be a story book as such, but an attempt to write a modern story in the style of a Norse myth.

Tolkein was a linguist at Oxford Univeristy and was a Fellow and Professor of English Language at Merton College (one of the 30+ colleges that make up Oxford University). If you look at my CV you will see that I was also a Fellow of Merton College during my career and my teaching room was once part of the set in which Tolkein lived in his latter years. However, although I was at Merton College for 13 years, I never saw a single hobbit……..:)
