Looking at t from energy consumption prospective and wastage of resources, I would say (not strictly inventions) but better regulations and awareness of the damage we could do if we used it wrongly or carelessly!!

This is a tough one as it is so difficult to think of making fundamental changes for good that won’t also have bad effects. I think I would find an alternative invention to the internal combustion engine that runs on hydrogen. That would have still allowed industrialisation to develop but would not have led to all the atmospheric pollution and production of all the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse effect gases. Of course, hydrogen burning engines exist now – but we needed them about 120 years ago

I think a space ship before the industrial revolution … if people could travel above the earth and see how small and fragile it looks compared to space, they might have wanted to protect it more and not create so many environmental problems

Wow – great question eecer!! I would invent a machine that could create clean and usable water for all. If you have clean water you can irrigate land and grow crops to make life more sustainable for all. The world’s water resources are now under the most intense pressure – it is used for almost everything. Did you know that the water footprint of a single cup of coffee is equivalent to about 150 cups!!
