Question: if you were on the brink of a terrible, slow and painful death, would you admit that science did not create the world, or would you put your faith in science before your life???
I wouldn’t need to be in that position before admitting that science did not create the world. Science is a discipline of study developed by man. However, I have done a parachute jump and there I put my faith in science!!
Laurence is right… science did not create the world, it’s just a useful tool to help us understand things.
There are lots of ways we put our faith in science … like getting on a plane to go on holiday or crossing a huge suspension bridge – we can only do those things because we worked out that they were safe using science.
I cannot add to the great answers below and I totally agree .. Science helps us understand all complex notations we don’t directly get and also create ways in which to improve life so I would be positive and think it saves lives and create better environments if used correctly 🙂
Indeed science is just the discipline of understanding …. but I don’t think that’s what your question was about…..we put our faith in the things we believe to be true and trustworthy – the phenomenon of aircraft flight, gravity, bouyancy. My faith in what I believe to be true and trustworthy wouldn’t change in light of a slow and painful death, but I’m hoping (of course) I don’t have to do this 🙂
