Frankenstein is a science fiction book written by a lady author Mary Shelley quite a long time ago and it has been the subject of many films ever since – the most famous monster being played by teh actor Boris Karloff. In fact “Frankenstein” was the name of the mad scientist who created the monster, not the monster itself. In the book the monster wasn’t the terrible thing of the movies but a rather sad creature who realised he was different. However, Hollywood is not known for following the story line. So finally to respond to your question, Frankenstein was a fictitious mad scientist (Laurence Harwood is a GENUINE mad scientist).
