      There have been so many … It was very important when we realised the Earth wasn’t the centre of the universe ! Also when we discovered the atom… that led to so much of the technology we use today

      I think fire – if that counts as “scientific” because it was probably very much by trial and error

      maybe the wheel – it allowed heavier things to be trasnported and more complex building projects to be completed – the start of transportation.
