• Question: where is your favourite country to do experiments?

      From me it is right here in the UK but of course I would not say No to experiment to be done in somewhere exotic such as Mauritius or Bahamas since for me anywhere will be the perfect grounds of radio signal testing and energy harvesting techniques because I want collect energy from various sources 🙂

      I have only ever done experiments in the UK… but i’d love to go to the big fusion experiment called D3D in San Diego in the USA! 🙂

      I have been very lucky and had the chance to work on research in Finland, Norway and Sweden, as well as the UK of course. Meeting people with different cultural backgrounds increases your understanding of the world and its people and I think makes you a better scientist/engineer/citizen. Some of the most exciting climate change experiments and explorations have been in the arctic ice cores; it would be very exciting to see this first hand, but also very, very cold!!!!

      Hi, I missed this one – sorry for the late anwer.

      For many years I lived and worked in Paris and I really loved working in the lab. all day then leaving in the evening and walking along the Rive Gauche and popping into a café for a coffee or a beer and watch the Parisiens walk by, or stopping off in a restaurant for supper. I still teach and have research collaborations in France so often go back there. However, as I type this, I am at a European Union meeting in Karlsruhe in Germany, the sun is shining, the sky is bright blue and it is very warm and I think that I could happily work here too.

      Then I go back to Reading and my research group and I know where my roots are finally…………
