• Question: why did you choose to be a scientist?

      I chose to be a scientist because I am interested in the world we live in. My geography teacher was great – tought us about world resources, people, disease, the way we live…..My physics teacher was also inspirational so I found a career that allows me to join these two things together and I studied Energy Engineering at university 🙂 I don’t regret any of it and I love my job now.

      I have always been interested in finding out how and why stuff or objects are made or behave. The thing that interested me the most is how to prove mathematical theories in labs and show to people that it makes sense (or not in some cases!).

      Being an electronic engineer/researcher, allowed me to explore venues to use energy efficiently and also look into aspects such as how to make objects appear invisible or how to use human body skin to communicate information 🙂 So it is fun being a scientist!

      I really enjoyed science and maths at school. Finding out how stuff worked was fascinating.

      Later on I realised that being a scientist allows you to work on useful stuff that can improve peoples lives in the future. The opportunity to discover something new is also really exciting. I’d definitely recommend it 🙂

      Simple – it was my chemistry teacher, Mr Good. I think if you ask most scientists that question they will give you the same answer – an inspiring teacher. Do you have any teachers like that! I hope you do. 🙂
